Is this base suitable for a cantilever umbrella?
No. The Resort 40kg is designed for centrepost umbrellas. Cantilever umbrellas require a dedicated base designed to handle the offset load from the side-mounted pole. Using a centrepost base with a cantilever umbrella is not safe or stable. Browse our full range for cantilever-specific options.
Do I need to fill this base with anything?
No. The Resort 40kg is solid concrete and arrives at its full working weight. No sand or water filling is required. It is ready to use straight away.
Can one person move this base?
Yes, with the wheels and pull-out handle. The base is designed to be tilted onto its wheels and rolled into position, similar to a suitcase. It does not need to be lifted to be repositioned.
Will the stainless steel stem rust?
Stainless steel is rust-resistant and suited to outdoor use. In coastal environments, surface tea staining can occur over time. This can be removed with a scourer and does not affect the stem’s structural integrity.
What pole diameters does this base fit?
The base comes with reducer rings to suit most standard centrepost umbrella pole diameters. If you are unsure whether your umbrella pole is compatible, contact our team before purchasing, and we can confirm.
How does the threaded stem differ from a bolted stem?
A bolted stem attaches to the base from underneath using nuts and bolts. Over time and with regular movement, this connection can loosen, causing wobbles at the pole. A threaded stem screws directly into the concrete, creating a more secure, stable connection that does not degrade over time.
Is the 40kg version worth it over the 25kg?
That depends on your umbrella size and location. The 25kg is well-suited to smaller umbrellas in sheltered areas. The 40kg is the better choice for larger umbrellas, exposed locations, coastal areas or commercial use where wind is a consistent factor. If you are on the fence, the heavier option provides more security and is worth considering when a larger canopy is involved.
